All The Things in 2018

2018 was an interesting year. I read more than I ever have in a single year, I meet and surpassed all of my reading goals for 2018. I read a total of 150 books and 55,910 pages. I had set my Goodreads goal for 120 books and I set a page goal for 50,000 pages. I am so happy that I had such an amazing reading year. Now I’m going to go through all the stats for everything that I read this year!

Screen Shot 2019-01-03 at 11.00.42 AMI love seeing the little COMPLETED banner on the challenge. I never thought that I would even read 120 books in 2018 but I really wanted to push myself this year and read more.

Of the 150 books I read this year, 27 were rereads and 123 were books that I had never read before. I’m not sure I’ve reread as many books in any previous year as I have this year. I reread a lot of my all time favorite books this year and I reread a lot of books so that I could finish a few series.

I tried in 2018 to be more critical with my reading this year but I ended up still loving a lot of the books that I read and rating them 4 and 5 stars. I rated 3 books 1 star, 7 books 2 stars, 35 books 3 stars, 45 books 4 stars, and 60 books 5 stars. A good bit of my rereads were 5 stars so that is a bit better.

As usual I’ve read far more contemporary than any other genre. I had planned to try to read more fantasy in 2018 and while I read some, it was once again the year of contemporary. It’s my favorite genre, no doubt, but I do love my thrillers and fantasy.

I read mostly YA again this year, but not exclusively like in years past. I read one adult book, which is such a tiny percent its barely showing on the chart, and a few Middle Grade and New Adult.

And below these are every single book I read this year!

I loved most of the books I read this year and I cannot wait to see the amazing books 2019 has to bring!

Happy Reading everyone!

  1. Great wrap up! Those pie charts are great at showing the kind of books you’ve read this year. In 2019, I want to finish the SJM Throne of Glass series. I’m so behind and to be honest, Ive forgotten a lot of what’s happened so I think I need to go back to the beginning and read them all in one go.

    1. Thank you! I finished the Throne of Glass series in 2018 and before I read Kingdom of Ash I reread all of the other books in one go. I loved reading them that way because I saw the bigger picture and all the little details too. Hope you have a great reading year!
